Report: Florida State, Ole Miss to open 2016 season at Citrus Bowl
Florida State and Ole Miss will open the 2016 college football season at Orlando's Citrus Bowl, ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported Thursday. The game is reportedly set for Monday, Sept. 5, 2016.
The Citrus Bowl is currently in the midst of a $207 million reconstruction that's expected to be completed this month. With the game, Orlando will become the latest of a slew of big cities to host neutral-site college football games, including Atlanta, Arlington, Tex., Charlotte, N.C., Kansas City and Houston.
Florida State and Ole Miss have met just once before, back in 1961 when the Rebels won 33-0.

FSU has two other games currently scheduled for 2016: Sept. 24 at South Florida and Nov. 26 vs. Florida. The Rebels have three non-conference games scheduled over September and October 2016.
Both teams have also played neutral-site games this season. Florida State defeated Oklahoma State 37-31 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, while Ole Miss defeated Boise State 35-13 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
The Seminoles (9-0) are currently third in the College Football Playoff committee rankings and second in both the AP Top 25 and USA TODAY Coaches Poll. The Rebels (8-2) are No. 10 in all three rankings.
