San Jose State beats Bethesda, 67-44

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Rashad Muhammad scored 17 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three and 5-of-5 at the foul line to lead San Jose State to a 67-44 win over Bethesda in the season opener for both teams Friday night.

Jaleel Williams added 10 points for the Spartans, who hit eight of their 19 3-point attempts and finished with a 51-34 advantage on the glass.

Francisco Aguilar and Michael Walker each scored eight points apiece to lead Bethesda, while Mark Ware and Daniel Chavez each added seven.

San Jose State put together a 14-2 run midway through the first half to build a 15-point halftime lead.

Bethesda struggled much of the night on the offensive end, shooting 27 percent overall and just 20 percent from three.
