SIU-Edwardsville dominates Harris Stowe 104-56

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) Donivine Stewart scored 20 points, had 10 assists and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Southern Illinois-Edwardsville to a 104-56 season-opening win over Harris Stowe on Friday night.

Stewart, who made only one of his first six field goal attempts, made two consecutive 3-pointers late in the first half to give the Cougars a 50-33 halftime advantage. Harris Stowe, an NAIA school, closed to 18 after Davell Lloyd made three-straight free throws with 15:00 remaining in the game. Jake Newton answered with a 3-point jumper and Kris Davis added a jump shot and two free throws to push the lead to 66-43.

Jacob Lloyd led the Hornets with 13 points.

SIU-Edwardsville made 48.6% of its field goals while holding the Hornets to 19 of 63 from the field. The Cougars also won the rebound battle, pulling down 54 to Harris Stowe's 40.
