Indiana State beats IUPUI 79-66 in OT

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Khristian Smith scored 27 points and Indiana State took over in overtime after a close second half to beat IUPUI 79-66 on Friday night.

The second half never saw more than a four-point difference, but the Sycamores scored 11-straight points in overtime while IUPUI missed seven-straight shots. Marcellus Barksdale made a lay-in with 51 seconds left, and it was the only made shot for the Jaguars after regulation.

Devonte Brown went 1-of-2 at the free-throw line with 7 seconds left in the second half. A foul sent Barksdale to the line, where he sank both shots to tie up the game as time ran out.

Barksdale led the Jaguars with 12 points, Mason Archie II added 11, and DavRon Williams finished with 11 rebounds. IUPUI committed 30 personal fouls, which led to 36 points for the Sycamores.

Brown finished with 19 points and Brenton Scott added 14 for Indiana State.
