Hofstra beats Jacksonville 94-61

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) Brian Bernardi scored 22 points with three assists as Hofstra beat Jacksonville 94-61 on Friday in the season opener for both teams.

Bernardi did it on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 shooting from three-point territory. Ameen Tanksley had 16 points and three rebounds for the Pride. Malik Nichols had 15 points and Juan'ya Green scored 14 points with five rebounds and nine assists. Andre Walker led the team in rebounds with 11.

Hofstra had a 21-point lead, 53-32, by halftime and continued to dominate in the second, hitting 55 percent overall from the field and 73 percent overall from the three-point line.

Jacksonville struggled from the field - hitting just 33 percent overall - and was outrebounded by Hofstra 44-34.

Kori Babineaux led the Dolphins with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting. J.R. Holder added nine points and led the team with six rebounds.
