Bucknell edges past Marist in season opener 75-72

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) Dom Hoffman scored 14 points and D.J. MacLeay added 11 as Bucknell pulled ahead after a back-and-forth battle to beat Marist 75-72 on Friday night.

The Bison led by as many as seven points early after the break, but a 13-2 run gave Marist a four-point lead midway through the second half.

MacLeay went on to score six-straight points to put Bucknell ahead once more; sparking a 10-0 run that gave the Bison the advantage they needed with 3:05 left to play.

Three other Bison players scored in double digits - John Azzinaro finished with 13, J.C. Show had 12, and Steven Kaspar added 10.

Khallid Hart scored a career-high 33 points, accounting for all of Marist's final 14 points to pull the Red Foxes within two, 74-72, with just 15 seconds left. Chavaughn Lewis added 18 as Mike Maker made his debut as head coach for Marist.
