BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Justin Moss had career-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds and Buffalo had two steals in the last 30 seconds to hold off South Dakota State 69-67 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

After Jarryn Skeete's layup with 41 seconds left put the Bulls up 67-66, the Jackrabbits had turnovers on their next two possessions. However, Shannon Evans was only able to make 2 of 4 free throws, giving South Dakota State a final chance.

Deondre Parks was fouled with 3 seconds left. He made the first free throw and intentionally missed the second but the Jackrabbits could not come up with the ball.

Evans added 17 points for the Bulls.

Jake Bittle had 16 points for South Dakota State. Cody Larson added 15 points and 15 rebounds and Zach Horstman 13 and 12. Both rebounding totals were a career best.
