White leads UALR past Arkansas-Monticello 77-64

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) James White, James Reid and Roger Woods led a balanced UALR attack on Sunday and the Trojans beat Arkansas-Monticello 77-64 in the season opener for both teams.

White scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots; Reid scored 12 points, including three 3-pointers, and Woods grabbed 13 rebounds.

UALR took a 38-29 lead into halftime before taking control early in the second, using a 14-4 run to push its lead to 19 with about 15 minutes to play.

Sharif Hudson scored or assisted on eight-straight Monticello points and Cameron Blue converted four free throw attempts during a 12-2 run that pulled the Boll Weevils within seven, 70-63, with 3:54 remaining. White then scored five-straight points and blocked two shots to seal the win for UALR.

Jamal Peterson made 8-of-11 3-pointers and scored 27 points for Monticello. Hudson added 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
