Old Dominion beats NC-Wilmington 76-56

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Trey Freeman scored 23 points and grabbed four rebounds as Old Dominion rallied in the second half to beat UNC-Wilmington 76-56 on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.

Jonathan Arledge added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Monarchs. Aaron Bacote chipped in with 10 points.

The Seahawks jumped to a 12-4 start with the help of a pair of Dylan Sherwood 3-pointers and led 32-28 at the break. The Monarchs hit just 33 percent from the field in the first half.

But Old Dominion rallied in the second half with a 24-7 run midway to lead 62-47 with 6:32 remaining. The Monarchs finished shooting 26 of 55 from the field and 16 of 22 from the line.

Addison Spruill led the Seahawks with 15 points and five rebounds. Craig Ponder added 14 points, three rebounds and four steals.
