NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight will miss his second straight game with a neck injury Saturday when the Sooners host Kansas.

Knight was injured in the fourth quarter against Baylor, and he missed the next game, Oklahoma's 42-30 win over Texas Tech last Saturday. He has an 11-3 record as Oklahoma's starter, and he was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl last season after passing for 348 yards and four touchdowns.

''Trevor will not be ready to play,'' coach Bob Stoops said Monday. ''We know that.''

Stoops didn't put a timetable on Knight's return.

Freshman Cody Thomas will start his second straight game Saturday. He ran for 103 yards on eight carries and passed for 133 yards in his first career start against Texas Tech to help the Sooners overcome a 21-7 deficit. The victory pushed Oklahoma back into the rankings at No. 23 after a one-week absence.

Stoops said Thomas did a lot of things well against Texas Tech.

''I feel confident he'll even make a bigger jump this week, having been out there that whole game and having the experience of it,'' Stoops said.

It's unclear if Sterling Shepard, who was named a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award for the nation's best receiver on Monday, will play Saturday. He missed most of the Iowa State game and the entire Baylor game with a groin injury, then played early against Texas Tech, but decided early that he couldn't continue.

''It's well,'' Shepard said. ''I thought I could give it a go Saturday, and it was feeling pretty good, and I just didn't want to hurt it any worse. I felt it pull up a little bit, but no further damage.''

Stoops said linebacker Geneo Grissom is expected to miss ''a few weeks'' with a sprained MCL. He ranks second on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

Stoops also said he doesn't expect Julian Wilson to play against Kansas. The cornerback broke his left thumb against Baylor and did not play against Texas Tech. Wilson leads the team with seven pass breakups.
