Morehead State gets by Cincinnati Christian 87-79

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) Corban Collins scored 15 points and Marquel Willis, Kareem Storey and Anthony Elechi had 12 apiece as Morehead State defeated NAIA-Cincinnati Christian 87-79 on Monday night.

Morehead (1-1) led throughout the game but could never pull away.

Mitch McLeish hit a 3-point jumper and added three straight free throws for Cincinnati Christian to close the gap to 83-76 with 22 seconds remaining. Mac Constable then hit three consecutive free throws to make it 84-79 with 11 seconds left. Storey was fouled, making both free throws and Willis added another to seal the win.

Morehead State held a 49-37 lead at the half.

Cincinnati Christian hit 43.5 percent (20-46) compared to Morehead State's 40.6 percent, but the Eagles made 26 of 64 attempts.

Morehead also won the rebound battle, 45-29.

Constable led Cincinnati Christian with 17 points, McLeish added 16, and Willie McKinney contributed 12.
