IPFW charges back to beat SIU-Edwardsville 74-71

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) Isaiah McCray, who scored a career-high 23 points and had a career-best 12 rebounds, had a dunk that started IPFW on a second-half run that led the Mastodons to a 74-71 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Monday night.

Trailing 59-55 with 7:26 left McCray started a 12-2 run that led to a 67-61 lead with 1:42 remaining.

Mo Evans, Joe Edwards and McCray made seven free throws in the final 47 seconds to secure the victory.

IPFW (2-0) led 37-32 at the half, but SIU-Edwardsville (1-1) charged back to lead 55-47 following a Kris Davis' jump shot and 3-pointer midway of the second half.

Edwards had 14 points and Steve Forbes added 12 for IPFW.

Donivine Stewart made 10 of 25 field goal attempts to total 24 points. Davis finished with 12 points and Keaton Jackson added 10.
