Temple fends off Louisiana Tech 82-75

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Will Cummings and Quenton DeCosey each scored 20 points as Temple threw up a blizzard of shots to defeat Louisiana Tech 82-75 on Monday night.

DeCosey was 6 of 12 from the field and Cummings 3 of 13 as Temple shot 43 percent from the field (22-51). But the Owls (2-1) scored 34 from the free-throw line in 49 attempts as Louisiana Tech was called for 28 fouls. Cummings was 13 for 18 and DeCosey 6 of 8 at the line.

Temple was up 73-64 with 45 seconds left and Cummings finished it out by sinking 7 of 10 free throws. Obi Enechionyia added a pair.

The Owls owned a 45-37 advantage on the boards with Cummings grabbing a career-high nine. Josh Brown tied his career-high in rebounds with seven and scored 17 points.

Raheem Appleby scored 26 points to lead the Bulldogs (1-1).
