FGCU tops UC Santa Barbara 81-75 in OT

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) Brett Comer scored 26 points and had 11 assists, Jamail Jones scored 16 and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Florida Gulf Coast beat UC Santa Barbara 81-75 in overtime on Monday.

Jones and Comer combined to score 12 of the Eagles' 17 overtime points.

Marc-Eddy Norelia scored 14 points for FGCU (2-0) and Bernard Thompson 13.

Alan Williams led the Gauchos (0-2) with 29 points and 16 rebounds, John Green scored 17 and Michael Bryson and Gabe Vincent had 12 apiece.

Trailing 32-28 at halftime, the Gauchos used a 7-2 run to stay close and Williams tied it at 64 at the end of regulation with two free throws.

Jones hit a jumper at 2:01 in overtime, grabbed a defensive rebound and Comer scored on a layup as part of a 9-3 Eagles surge for a 77-71 lead with 49 seconds to play.
