UT Martin beats Arkansas State 75-73

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) Twymond Howard scored 23 points, Marshun Newell added 15, including four 3-pointers, and UT Martin came from behind to beat Arkansas State 75-73 Monday night.

Myles Taylor and Deville Smith each scored 11 and Taylor grabbed nine rebounds for the Skyhawks (2-1).

Anthony Livingston led the Red Wolves (0-2) with 26 points and nine rebounds, Cameron Golden scored 17 and Sean Gardner 15.

Arkansas State outshot UT Martin from the field 57.8 percent (26 of 45) to 47.3 percent (26 of 55), and from beyond the arc 54.5 percent (6 of 11) to 40 percent (8 of 20).

The Red Wolves used a 9-2 run, capped by a 3-pointer by Livingston, to lead 19-11 and pulled to a 39-23 halftime lead.

The Skyhawks gained ground on second-half runs of 10-2 and 9-0 and led 70-65 at 3:22 after Taylor scored three straight buckets. Taylor iced the game with a free throw with 14 seconds to play.
