USC cornerback Josh Shaw will not be charged after an investigation regarding an argument with his girlfriend in August, according to the Orange County Register

According to a document from the district attorney's office obtained by the Register, an investigation found "there is insufficient evidence to prove that Mr. Shaw assaulted the victim in any manner."

USC athletic director Pat Hade said based on the outcome of both police and the school's investigations, Shaw has been reinstated to the team. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has not yet determined the role the cornerback will have going forward.

"I’ve welcomed Josh Shaw back to the team," said Sarkisian. "I’m now in the process of evaluating how Josh can contribute to the team’s success."

Shaw told the Los Angeles Times’ Bill Plaschke that he had an argument with his girlfriend and jumped from a third-story balcony when he heard police nearby. Shaw injured his ankles in the fall and told USC he hurt himself while saving a drowning relative. The Trojans' website published an account of that story, but three days later Shaw admitted it was a lie

Reports: Jameis Winston's disciplinary hearing delayed to Dec. 2

Sarkisian suspended Shaw indefinitely after he admitted to the farce. Named a captain before the season, the senior has yet to play in a game this season.
