Presbyterian tops Piedmont 82-72

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) William Truss scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Jordan Downing added 18, and Presbyterian pulled away in the second half to beat Piedmont 82-72 on Tuesday.

DeSean Murray and Markus Terry each scored 12 for the Blue Hose (1-1), which outshot the Lions 46.9 percent to 42.4 percent. Austin Anderson had five assists.

Brian Edwards paced Piedmont with 14 points, Chase England scored 11 and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Justin Vallejo added 11 points.

Edwards put Piedmont up 28-26 at 2:46 in the first half with a layup, but Presbyterian finished with a 9-2 run to take a 35-32 halftime lead.

Edwards cut it to 39-38 with a layup at 16:45 in the second half, but Terry hit back-to-back buckets and Presbyterian used a 13-2 run midway through the half to pull away 52-40.
