Albany cruises past NJIT 65-48

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Wheeler Baker scored 15 points to help Albany roll to a 65-48 victory over NJIT on Wednesday night.

After Baker hit a 3-pointer to make it 16-5 with 9:38 left in the first half, Albany (1-1) led by double digits the rest of the way. The Great Danes went up by as many as 23 points after the break.

Sam Rowley scored 12 points with eight rebounds, and Peter Hooley chipped in 10 points for Albany. Baker shot 6 of 10 from the floor and 3 of 5 (60 percent) from three-point range.

Damon Lynn scored 20 points for the Highlanders, including four 3-pointers. Ky Howard was the only other NJIT player to score in double figures, finishing with 13 points. The Highlanders (1-2) shot just 28.3 percent (15 of 53) from the floor and had 18 turnovers.
