Jackson leads Rice over Prairie View 68-64

HOUSTON (AP) Marcus Jackson scored 30 points - 10 in the final five minutes - to keep Rice ahead of Prairie View 68-64 on Wednesday night.

Prairie View led 53-51 with 4:02 left to play but Jackson made a layup that sparked a 10-1 run for the Owls. The Panthers closed within one with 20 seconds to go, but the Owls shot 5 of 6 from the line to end it.

Jackson scored four 3-pointers and made all 10 of his free-throw attempts. Bishop Mency scored 11 points and Andrew Drone added 10. Rice (1-1) shot 52.9 percent (9 of 17) from 3-point range, and finished with 20 turnovers.

John Brisco scored 20 points for Prairie View and Montrael Scott added 18. Tre Hagood led the Panthers (0-3) with five assists. Prairie View was 5 of 18 (27.8 percent) from behind the arc.
