St. Bonaventure tops Canisius 59-53

SAINT BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (AP) Marcus Posley scored 20 points and Youssou Ndoye grabbed 12 rebounds as St. Bonaventure ended a back-and-forth battle for the lead with a 59-53 victory over Canisius on Saturday.

Posley made four of St. Bonaventure's seven 3-pointers. Dion Wright scored 12 points, Jaylen Adams added 11, and Ndoye and Andell Cumberbatch each chipped in eight as the Bonnies got all their points from their starters.

St. Bonaventure (2-1) opened up the first half with 10-straight points, then Canisius went on an 11-0 run, and by the break it was a two-point game. The second half saw six lead changes and two ties, but the Bonnies took the lead for good with 5:48 left to play after Adams hit a 3-pointer.

Jeremiah Williams scored 14 points and Phil Valenti grabbed 11 rebounds for the Griffins (2-1). Canisius shot 19 of 60 (31.7 percent) from the floor.
