Late in the first half, Holmes received a low snap and began to lineup a punt before pulling the ball out as a Harvard player dove in to block it.
Holmes then stepped forward and punted the ball 46 yards to Harvard's 15-yard line.
The Bulldogs led the Crimson 7-3 at the half, but eventually fell 31-24.
Harvard has now won eight consecutive games in the rivalry between the two schools.
