Hartford holds off Niagara, 65-62

LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) John Carroll scored 16 points and Yolonzo Moore scored on a key tip-in in the final minute as Hartford held off Niagara, 65-62 on Saturday night.

Wesley Myers drilled a 3-pointer in the final minute to pull Niagara within a field goal, 61-59, but Hartford answered on a tip-in by Moore to make it 63-59 with :23 left.

The Hawks (3-1) shot 48 percent from the field and were 9 of 16 from three-point range while collecting 26 points in the paint and collecting 14 more off of Niagara turnovers.

Karonn Davis and Emile Blackman scored 17 and 15 points, respectively, to lead the Purple Eagles (1-2). Niagara shot 42 percent from the field on 21-of-50 shooting, 6 of 18 from behind the arc, but just 14 of 23 from the free-throw line.
