UC Davis holds off Furman 58-55

GREENEVILLE, S.C. (AP) Corey Hawkins scored 21 points to lead UC Davis in a 58-55 victory over Furman on Saturday night as the Aggies got their first 3-0 start since the 1999-2000 season.

The score was tied at 33 when UC Davis went on a 19-6 run to go up by 13 points with 8:16 left on the clock. Furman's John Davis made a layup and then hit two free throws to put the Paladins within five, 57-52, and a 3-pointer by Daniel Fowler made it a two-point game with one minute to play.

Furman got two more chances to score but both 3-point attempts were missed.

Hawkins was 8 of 14 from the floor and made four 3-pointers. Josh Fox chipped in 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting for the Aggies.

Stephen Croone led the Paladins (1-2) with 15 points, and John Davis added 14.
