ETSU ties school 3s mark, beats Asheville 98-87

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) Rashawn Rembert made eight of East Tennessee State's 15 3-pointers on his way to 31 points and the Buccaneers beat UNC Asheville 98-87 on Saturday night.

ETSU tied a school record for most 3-pointers.

Jalen Riley added 16 points, Devin Harris 12 and Ron Giplaye 10 for the Bucanners (2-1), who have now won the last six meetings in the series they lead 15-6.

Andrew Rowsey made seven 3-pointers en route to 29 points for the Bulldogs (2-2). He has scored 20 or more points in his last six games dating to last season. Kem Ubaru added 17 points and David Robertson and Kevin Vannatta 14 apiece.

The Buccaneers were trailing 32-31 before finishing the first half on a 22-10 run to lead 53-42 at intermission. Rowsey's 3-pointer with 3:36 left got Asheville within 88-84 but ETSU finished on a 10-2 run with Riley scoring the final seven points.
