Seton Hall pulls away from Gardner-Webb 85-67

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) Sterling Gibbs scored 16 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, to help lift Seton Hall to an 85-67 win over Gardner-Webb in the semifinals of the Paradise Jam on Sunday.

Seton Hall (3-0) opened with a 12-3 burst that included 3-pointers from Isaiah Whitehead and Jaren Sina to take an early lead that was never challenged. The Pirates took a 39-29 advantage into the break and continued to pull away in the second half on 50 percent shooting from the floor.

Desi Rodriguez contributed a career-high 15 points and nine rebounds, while Sina added 14 points and Angel Delgado had 12 plus 11 rebounds in the win, which marked the first meeting between the programs.

Gardner-Webb (2-2) got 15 points and seven rebounds from Jerome Hill.

The Pirates will play the winner of Sunday night's matchup between Old Dominion and Illinois State.
