South Dakota St coasts past Chadron State 87-42

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) Jake Bittle scored 12 points to lead South Dakota State to an 87-42 win over lower-division Chadron State on Monday night.

South Dakota State (2-2) took control with a 12-0 run capped by a Reed Tellinghuisen layup that made it 22-5 with 6:20 to go in the first period. The Jackrabbits took a 36-12 advantage into the break and continued to pull away in the second half.

Tellinghuisen, Cody Larson and Skyler Flatten contributed 11 points apiece for South Dakota State, which shot 51.6 percent and was 18 of 25 from the free throw line in the first meeting between the programs.

Chadron State, an NCAA Division II team, hit just 15 of 59 from the floor and was out-rebounded 44-39.

Kendrick Holliman led the Eagles with 12 points and seven rebounds.
