Old Dominion beats Gardner-Webb 58-46

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) Trey Freeman had 22 points and Old Dominion scored 10 straight in the final three minutes to beat Gardner-Webb 58-46 in the third-place game of the Paradise Jam tournament on Monday night.

The Monarchs (4-1) led by four before Freeman made a jumper and two free throws to spark the late run.

Old Dominion opened the second half with a 12-3 run, but Gardner-Webb (2-3) closed to 48-44 on Adonis Burbage's 3-pointer with 4:26 left.

Freeman was 2 of 3 from 3-point range and Richard Ross added 12 points and seven rebounds for Old Dominion.

Jerome Hill had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Burbage scored 10 with 3-of-6 3-point shooting. Tyler Strange entered the game averaging 14.3 points, but went scoreless on 0-for-11 shooting.

Old Dominion held Gardner-Webb to 29.1 percent from the field.
