IPFW runs away from Jacksonville, 89-71

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) Isaiah McCray and Joe Edwards both scored 16 points and IPFW stormed to an 89-71 runaway win over Jacksonville Monday night.

The Mastodons started fast with a 10-2 run and never looked back, extending the lead to 20 points at halftime, 49-29.

IPFW (3-1) shot 31 of 58 from the field (53.4 percent) and was 10 of 25 from long range.

Jacksonville (1-4) battled back from a 28-point second half, but the only time the lead got under 20 points was on J.R. Holder's layup with :09 left to create the final margin.

Kori Babineaux scored 20 points to lead the Dolphins, with Tim Gill adding 14 points, Holder 12 and Josh Adeyeye 10.

Jacksonville was 25 of 66 from the field, but converted just 1 of 11 shots from three-point range and was 20 of 25 from the free throw line.
