Dion sparks New Hampshire past Boston U 75-68

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) Daniel Dion put together a late 12-point surge, finishing with 23 points off the bench and carrying New Hampshire past Boston University 75-68 on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats (2-2) were nursing a late two-point lead when Dion took over, hitting a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws. After John Papale sank one from deep, Dion followed with a 3-point dagger to make it 71-64 with 37 seconds left. He sank two more free throws and a layup to seal it.

New Hampshire outscored Boston 22-3 in points off turnovers and 28-18 in the paint. Jaleen Smith scored 15 points, Jacoby Armstrong added 13 and Tanner Leissner had 12 with seven rebounds.

Cedric Hankerson hit four 3-pointers and was 10 of 11 from the free throw line, pacing the Terriers (1-3) with a career-high 26 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Papale added 16 points and five assists for Boston.
