South Carolina State beats Columbia Int'l 92-55

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) Greg Mortimer scored 17 points and South Carolina State easily defeated lower-division Columbia International 92-55 on Tuesday.

Mortimer was 6 of 8 from the field as the Bulldogs shot 51 percent from the floor overall. Edward Stephens and Gerdarius Troutman both scored 14 points while Darryl Palmer had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Karon Wright added 11 points and made a pair of 3-pointers. South Carolina State out-rebounded the undermanned Rams 48-28 and enjoyed a 48-14 advantage in the paint.

Columbia International was paced by JC Cavin and Daniel Collins with nine points apiece. The Rams shot 31 percent from the floor and went 8 of 28 (29 percent) from beyond the arc.

SC State took the lead for good at 14:51 of the first half on a jumper by Palmer and a 16-6 run pushed the lead to double-digits for good.
