South Florida edges Hofstra 71-70

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Chris Perry made the game-winning layup with 7 seconds to play Tuesday night and South Florida rallied to beat Hofstra 71-70.

Corey Allen Jr. scored 18 points, Nehemias Morillo scored 15, and Anthony Collins grabbed 12 rebounds for South Florida (4-1).

Hofstra led 36-30 at halftime, but Bo Zeigler's dunk at 5:52 brought the Bulls to within five points at 58-53, then Allen hit a trey for a 69-68 lead. Juan'ya Green put Hofstra back on top 70-69 with two free throws before Perry hit the game-winner.

Ameen Tanksley scored 20 points for Hofstra and Green had 17 and seven assists. Brian Bernardi added 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Dion Nesmith scored 10. Rokas Gustys grabbed 12 rebounds and Hofstra outrebounded the Bulls 35-33.

The Bulls outshot the Pride (3-2) 52.5 percent to 41.2 percent from the floor, but Hofstra shot 11 of 26 from distance to South Florida's 6 of 17.
