Loyola-Marymount beats UC Riverside 66-62

LOS ANGELES (AP) Evan Payne scored 25 points to lead Loyola Marymount over UC Riverside 66-62 on Wednesday night.

Marin Mornar's dunk gave LMU a 10-point lead, 61-51 with 3:18 to play. Taylor Johns scored ten of the Highlander's next 11 points to pull within 64-62 with 9 seconds left. Payne then sank two free throws to seal it for the Lions (3-2).

Payne hit 5 of 15 shots and finished 15 of 16 from the line. Matt Hayes scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Ayodeji Egbeyemi finished with 11 points, and his back-to-back dunks gave LMU the lead for good, 39-36 with 15:36 remaining.

Taylor Johns scored 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting to lead UC Riverside (2-3). Jaylen Bland scored 15 points and had five assists, and Nick Gruninger chipped in 11 points for the Highlanders.
