Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris is expected to be named the next head coach at SMU, according to multiple reports. Clint Brewster of 247sports.com was first to report the news. The report was later confirmed by Chip Brown of HornsDigest.com and FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman.

Brown reports Morris has agreed to a multi-year contract worth more than $3 million annually.

Morris, 45, has been the Tigers' offensive coordinator since 2011. His first collegiate coaching job was as the offensive coordinator at Tulsa in 2010. Prior to that, he had been a high school coach in Texas since 1994.

Virginia announces coach Mike London will return next season

Morris signed a six-year deal worth $1.3 million annually in Dec. 2011, making him the nation's highest paid assistant coach.

SMU coach June Jones resigned in September. The Mustangs are winless in 10 games this season and are statistically one of the worst teams in the nation. They have the second-worst offense by yards per game and the worst by points per game. Their defense is last in the nation in both points and yards allowed per game.
