Norfolk State beats St. Francis (NY) 72-70 in OT

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) Jamel Fuentes' steal set up Thomas Malik for the go-ahead floater with 34 seconds left in overtime, and Norfolk State beat St. Francis (NY) 72-70 in the Barclays Center Classic at Saint Peter's on Friday night.

Malik's basket made it 71-70 and Norfolk State (3-3) got a stop on Brent Jones' missed 3-pointer with 13 seconds left.

St. Francis (0-5) sent Malik to the line where he made 1 of 2, and Tyreek Jewell missed on a last-second attempt to tie the game.

Malik scored 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting, Short added 19 points, and RaShid Gaston and D'Shon Taylor had 14 apiece. Gaston also had 10 rebounds.

Jalen Cannon led St. Francis with 23 points. Jones and Kevin Douglas added 11 apiece for the Terriers, who scored the first 15 points of the game.

Jones made a 3 in the final minute of regulation to force overtime.
