Jacksonville State beats Savannah State 74-71

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) Jeremy Watson scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Jacksonville State held on to beat Savannah State 74-71 on Friday night.

Demarcus Bryant hit back-to-back 3-pointers to pull Savannah State within 70-67 with 19 seconds remaining. JaQuail Townser and Avery Moore each made a pair of free throws to seal the win with 5 seconds left, and Javaris Jenkins hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Savannah State to cap the scoring.

Darion Rackely scored 15 points, D.J. Felder had 14 and Townser finished with 10 points and seven assists for the Gamecocks (3-3).

Savannah State led 31-28 with 1:07 left in the first half before Moore's 3-pointer at the first-half buzzer tied it at 31.

The Gamecocks opened the second half on a 13-2 run and led 44-33 with 16:06 to play.

Terel Hall had 24 points and seven assists to lead Savannah State (2-4).
