MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) Chris Fowler scored 26 points and John Simons 21 to lead Central Michigan to a 79-77 victory over Grand Canyon on Saturday night in Dan Majerle's return to the school where he starred before going on to a 14-year NBA career.

Majerle, Grand Canyon's coach, played for the Chippewas from 1985-88 and his No. 44 jersey hangs in the rafters of McGuirk Arena.

CMU was clinging to a 78-77 lead after Sam Daly made two free throws for the Antelopes (2-4) with 4.9 seconds left. CMU's Austin Stewart was fouled on the inbounds pass and made one free throw. Daly then drove the length of the floor, but with 6-foot-8 Simons defending him, the 6-3 Daly kicked the ball out to a teammate but time ran out.

GCU's Joshua Braun had 21 points.

CMU is 5-0 for the first time since 1980-81. Coach Keno Davis won his 100th career game.
