American beats Brown 66-49 with second-half run

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Jesse Reed made 3 of 3 from 3-point range with 22 points and eight rebounds in American's 66-49 victory over Brown on Wednesday night.

American (4-3) used a 17-3 run through the middle of the second half to build a 55-38 lead on Pee Wee Gardner's free throws with 4:31 left.

Brown (3-5) jumped ahead 17-9 to start the game, but the Eagles took the lead with an 11-1 run and led 29-28 at halftime.

Reed was 6 of 10 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. Zach Elcano had 13 points and John Schoof added 10 for the Eagles who shot 50 percent while holding Brown to 34 percent.

Leland King had 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Cedric Kuakumensah led the Bears with 17 points.
