Caldwell, Tennessee Tech hold off Lipscomb 84-79

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Dwan Caldwell scored a career-high 31 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and hit a key 3-pointer as Tennessee Tech held off Lipscomb 84-79 on Wednesday night.

The Golden Eagles (4-3) watched a late 10-point lead shrivel to two as Brett Wishon sank a 3-pointer, making it 77-75 with 1:49 left. Caldwell answered right back, connecting on his only attempt from deep. Caldwell added two free throws and Aleksa Jugovic's steal led to Javon McKay's dunk with 18 seconds left to halt the rally.

Tennessee Tech shot 47.6 percent from the field and had a 28-8 advantage in points off turnovers. Charles Jackson had 10 points and McKay added eight with five assists.

The Bisons (2-5) were 29 of 58 overall (50 percent) and out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 41-30, but were done in by 21 turnovers. Josh Williams led Lipscomb with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Brett Wishon added 14 points.
