S. Illinois starts defeats Edwardsville 79-67

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) Anthony Beane scored 20 of his 28 points in the first half Wednesday night when Southern Illinois dominated on the way to a 79-67 win over SIU-Edwardsville.
The Salukis (4-3) shot 56.5 percent in the first half while holding the Cougars (1-4) to 23 percent to open a 45-22 lead.
Beane had four points in an early 11-2 run that made it 22-11 at 9:04 and had a jumper and 3-pointer as the Salukis closed the half on a 12-0 run.
Jalen Pendleton, who hit 9 of 10 free throws, and Chaz Glotta, who had three 3-pointers, came off the bench to split 26 points for Southern Illinois.
Kris Davis had 18 points and Donivine Stewart 17 for Edwardsville, which shot a blistering 15 of 19 in the second half but never got closer than the final score.
