Virginia guard Justin Anderson suffered an apparent left ankle injury during Wednesday's game at Maryland for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Anderson went down with 9:24 remaining in the game and the No. 7 Cavaliers ahead 54-44. Virginia won 76-65, handing No. 21 Maryland its first loss of the season.

Andersen, a junior, scored 16 points with six rebounds before exiting. He entered the game averaging 15.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the 8-0 Cavaliers.

Andersen averaged 7.8 points per game as a sophomore last season and 7.6 as a freshman.

Virginia next plays Saturday at VCU. Maryland will host Winthrop on Saturday.

The Big Ten won the ACC/Big Ten Challenge for the sixth straight year on Wednesday.
