Louisiana-Lafayette accepted an invitation to play in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, ULL's fourth consecutive appearance in the game, the school announced.

The game, the first bowl of the postseason, will be played Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. local time at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and will be televised by ESPN. ULL will play an undetermined team from the Mountain West Conference.

ULL won the previous three appearances in the bowl game, including last year’s 24-21 victory over Tulane.

“We are very excited to be heading back to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl,” ULL head coach Mark Hudspeth said. “It has become home to us the last three years. The New Orleans Bowl provides such a great overall experience, not only for our players but also for our fans."

The Ragin’ Cajuns (8-4, 7-1 Sun Belt) are led by senior quarterback Terrance Broadway who threw for 2,419 yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and ran for 646 yards and three more scores. ULL won seven of its final eight games this season and posted its best ever record in the Sun Belt Conference.

Georgia Southern finished with an 8-0 record in the Sun Belt but were denied a chance to play in a bowl game because of NCAA bylaws stating that first-year FBS teams can’t compete in the postseason.
