Missouri defensive end Shane Ray was ejected for targeting during Saturday's SEC Championship Game vs. Alabama.

With Missouri trailing 7-0 in the second quarter, Alabama quarterback Blake Sims connected with DeAndrew White for a 58-yard touchdown pass. On the play, Ray hit Sims late and square in the facemask.

Ray was the SEC's leader in sacks (14) and tackles for loss (21) this season. The targeting penalty was Missouri's third of the game.

Alabama opened the game with a 10-play, 68-yard drive that culminated in a one-yard touchdown run by T.J. Yeldon. Following Ray's ejection and Alabama's second touchdown, Missouri got on the board with a 33-yard field goal after a nine-play, 58-yard drive.

Alabama won the SEC West after finishing 11-1, losing only to Ole Miss on Oct. 4. Missouri finished 10-2 in the SEC East, dropping games to Indiana and Georgia.
