Utah State, UTEP to meet in New Mexico Bowl

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Utah State will face UTEP in the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 20.

It's the second selection to the bowl for the Conference USA Miners (7-5), who lost to BYU in 2010, and also their first since postseason berth since then.

UTEP secured its first winning season since 2005 with a 24-21 win over Middle Tennessee.

The Aggies (9-4) are making their fourth straight bowl game appearance, including wins back-to-back wins in the Potato Bowl in 2012 and Poinsettia Bowl last season. Utah State was 6-2 in the Mountain West Conference this season, and it's won five of its last six games - led by conference defensive player of the year Zach Vigil.

The Aggies won both previous meetings, in 1960 and 1961.
