NC Central shoot down Howard 61-39

NEW YORK (AP) Anthony McDonald drilled seven 3-pointers and Jordan Parks scored 13 points and grabbed the same number of rebounds as North Carolina Central knocked off Howard, 61-39 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference battle at the Barclays Center in the Big Apple Classic.

Both teams arrived in New York with a conference win. NC Central knocked off Maryland-Eastern Shore Friday; Howard beat North Carolina A&T in its conference opener Saturday.

The Bison (5-4, 1-1) struggled shooting, connecting on just 13 of 44 attempts (29.5 percent) from the field and 6 of 18 from behind the arc. James Daniel, the preseason MEAC player of the year, scored 14 points, but was the only Howard player to reach double figure scoring.

McDonald finished with 21 points to spark the Eagles (6-3, 2-0) offense. Parks grabbed five caroms off the offensive glass.

North Carolina Central was 22 of 46 from the field (47.8 percent).
