Mason, Campbell beat Johnson & Wales 63-38

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) D.J. Mason and Luke Moyer led all scorers with nine points apiece and the Campbell defense smothered Johnson & Wales in a 63-38 win Monday night.

Moyer hit 3 of 5 3-pointers and Reco McCarter added eight points and three steals for Campbell (2-5). Andrew Ryan finished with eight points, four rebounds and four assists to go along with one steal and one blocked shot.

Campbell closed the first half with a 9-2 run and went into halftime with a 26-16 lead, limiting Johnson & Wales to 6-of-25 (24 percent) shooting from the field and forcing nine turnovers.

Early in the second half, the Camels used a 14-4 spurt - including a pair of 3-pointers by Ryan - to open up a 40-22 lead and cruised from there, leading by as many as 26.

Nick Crawford had six points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Wildcats.
