Evansville comes back to beat Belmont, 65-62

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) D.J. Balentine scored 25 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists to lead Evansville to a 65-62 victory over Belmont on Tuesday night.

Clinging to a 53-51 lead with four minutes remaining, Evansville scored 10 of the games next 15 points over the next three minutes, highlighted by a Jaylon Brown 3-pointer, to build a 63-56 lead, its largest of the game.

Belmont would cut the lead back to three on a Caleb Chowbay 3-pointer, but would get no closer.

Brown and Egidijus Mockevicius each added eight points apiece for the Purple Aces (7-1). Evansville shot 48.9 percent from the field, holding Belmont to just 36.7 percent.

Evan Bradds and Amanze Egekeze each scored 13 points to lead the Bruins (7-2). Reece Chamberlain added 14 rebounds and eight assists for Belmont.
