Gardner-Webb beats Furman 74-68

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) Jerome Hill landed his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 28 points with 19 rebounds in leading Gardner-Webb to a 74-68 win over Furman on Saturday night.

Hill did it with 10-of-21 shooting from the field and sinking 8 of 18 from the line. Tyrell Nelson added 19 points, six rebounds, two steals and three blocks for the Bulldogs (6-4). Adonis Burbage chipped in 14 points.

The lead changed hands eight times in the first period before Gardner-Webb emerged with a 36-35 halftime advantage.

In the second, the teams kept it close until a layup by Burbage opened a 63-58 lead for the Bulldogs with 4:32 remaining. Meanwhile, the Paladins lost steam, hitting just 4 of 11 from the field and turning the ball over twice in the final six minutes.

Stephen Croone scored 19 points for the Paladins (2-6). Geoff Beans added 11.
