North Dakota State routs North Dakota, 71-42

FARGO, N.D. (AP) Kory Brown and Dexter Werner combined to score 35 points to lead North Dakota State to a lopsided 71-42 win over in-state rival North Dakota Saturday night.

Lawrence Alexander drilled a 3 and added a layup in the first 3 minutes to spark an 11-0 run to open the game for North Dakota State.

The Bison held North Dakota to just 19 first-half points and fashioned a 24-point lead by intermission.

North Dakota State (5-4) shot an even 50 percent from the field (25 of 50) and connected on 5 of 17 from the perimeter to control the game, adding 16 of 19 from the line. Brown scored 18 points and Werner added 17 off the bench.

North Dakota (3-6) struggled from the floor, hitting 17 of 51 attempts (33.3 percent) and just 2 of 13 from distance. Lenny Antwi led the effort with nine points.
