Abilene Christian dominates Northern New Mexico 76-48

ABILENE, Texas (AP) Parker Wentz made 4 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to a total of 18 points and had four steals to lead Abilene Christian to a dominating 76-48 win over NAIA's Northern New Mexico on Saturday.

Northern New Mexico's Walid Ahmed-Aly nailed a 3-pointer to open the scoring. ACU's Austin Cooke answered with a 3, Wentz drove for a layup and Cooke added another layup for a 7-3 lead as the Wildcats streaked to a 35-18 halftime advantage. They were ahead 57-28 midway through the final period.

The Eagles outrebounded ACU 42 to 36 but made only 11 of 47 from the floor (23.4 percent). The Wildcats made 24 of 61 field goal attempts (39.3 percent).

Duran Porter and LaDarrien Williams had nine apiece for ACU (4-4).

Ahmed-Aly made all three of his long-range shots to lead Northern New Mexico with 14 points.
