Utah State slips past Utah Valley 50-47

OREM, Utah (AP) Jalen Moore and Chris Smith combined for 27 points as Utah State held on to top Utah Valley 50-47 on Saturday night.

Moore was only 2 of 9 from the floor but made 10 of 12 free throw attempts. Smith added 13 points for Utah State (4-4).

Utah Valley was leading 44-43 with 1:29 remaining when Moore made two free throws, nailed a jump shot and the split a pair of free throws for a 48-45 advantage with 7 seconds left. Moore fouled Donte Williams who made both free throws. Utah State's Chris Smith got the inbound pass and slammed home a dunk to secure the win.

The Wolverines (3-6) are now 0-10 against Utah State.

Both teams were cold from the field. Utah State made 14 of 47 attempts and the Wolverines were 15 of 51.

Donte Williams had 14 and Zach Nelson chipped in 12 for Utah Valley.
